What Happens At NCADP’s National Conference?

Last year’s direct action was a “March to the Arch” in St. Louis, Missouri. Speakers included local politicians, religious leaders and family members of death row inmates.
Danny Glover addressed more than 250 young people at a poetry slam the NCADP sponsored at St. Louis University as a part of last year’s conference.
Attendees of our St. Louis Conference applaud one of its three plenary sessions. Overall, more than 700 people came out for NCADP conference events!

  • Addresses, Plenaries, & Workshops
  • Anti-death penalty activists share their ideas and strategies through panels and workshops that are held daily. We hear words of inspiration for the struggle that lies ahead from prominent individuals.

  • Direct Action
  • Abolitionists from across the country will make their voices heard by demonstrating against the death penalty. Our afternoon direct action will feature a protest march followed by a rally in the heard of the city.

  • Cultural Events
  • The NCADP believes in the arts as a form of critical resistance against the state’s use of the death penalty. We devote an evening to sharing in music, dance, poetry, drama, and other vital forms of cultural expression.

  • Awards Dinner
  • We honor those persons who by sacrifice and dedication have made a tremendous difference in the struggle to abolish the death penalty. In the presence of these “unsung heroes,” we as a movement find strength to continue our work.
